한-네덜란드, '반도체 협력 강화' 첫 회의 - Inaugural chip talks with Netherlands urge stronger cooperation

한국과 네덜란드 간 반도체 대화가 처음으로 열렸다. The nation has held its inaugural semiconductor summit with the Netherlands.

19일 산업통상자원부(산업부)에 따르면 이날 이용필 산업부 첨단산업정책관과 세르필 타시오글루 네덜란드 경제기후정책부 산업정책국장이 수석대표로 참석한 가운데 네덜란드 에인트호번에서 '한-네덜란드 반도체 대화' 첫 번째 회의가 개최됐다.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy on Feb. 19 said the first Korea-Netherlands Semiconductor Dialogue was held that day in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, with Lee Yong-pil, director-general of the ministry's Office of High Technology Industry, and Serpil Tascioglu, director of top sectors and industrial policy at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and head of the Dutch delegation.

이번 대화는 지난해 12월 네덜란드를 국빈 방문한 윤석열 대통령이 양국의 반도체 분야 협력 강화를 위해 제안한 데 따른 것이다. 네덜란드는 ASML, ASM, NXP 등 글로벌 반도체 기업을 보유한 반도체 공급망 핵심 국가로 양국 정상은 국빈 방문을 계기로 정부, 기업, 대학을 아우르는 '반도체 동맹'을 구축하기로 약속했다.

The talks followed President Yoon Suk Yeol's proposal in December last year to reinforce bilateral chip cooperation during his state visit to the Netherlands. The European country is a core player in the global semiconductor supply chain and houses world chip giants like ASML, ASM, and NXP. During the president's trip, both sides pledged to form a related alliance comprising government, business, and academia.

이날 회의에서 양측은 지난 1월 발표한 '메가 클러스터 조성 방안' 등 양국의 반도체 산업 정책을 공유하고 설계, 장비, 패키징 등 분야에서의 기술 협력 방안을 논의했다.
At the talks in Eindhoven, the two sides shared their semiconductor policies like a plan to create a mega chip cluster announced last month, and discussed technical cooperation in areas like planning, equipment, and packaging.

이어 글로벌 반도체 산업의 공통 현안인 인력양성 문제 해소를 위한 '한-네덜란드 첨단반도체 아카데미'의 양국 교차 개최와 참여 대학 및 기관 확대에 대한 의견을 교환했다.
They also discussed their plan to build and co-host a joint advanced semiconductor academy in both nations to resolve the global problem of personnel training in the sector, as well as expand the number of participating universities and institutions.

특히 반도체 공급망 안정화를 위한 양국 산업간 연계 강화의 필요성에 공감하고 비즈니스 라운드테이블 개최를 통한 새로운 비즈니스 모색 기회를 지원하는 방안도 논의했다.
Next, they agreed on the need to reinforce bilateral cooperation between each side's industry to reduce risk in the semiconductor supply chain and discussed support for new business opportunities through a business roundtable.

양측은 이번 대화를 연례 개최하는데 합의하고 양국 반도체 협력 현황을 지속 점검하기로 했다. Korea and the Netherlands also agreed to hold this dialogue annually and continuously check progress in their semiconductor cooperation.

이용필 산업부 첨단산업정책관은 "반도체 공급망에서 핵심 역할을 하는 양국이 반도체 분야에서 협력함으로써 양국 반도체 산업의 경쟁력 강화뿐만 아니라 글로벌 반도체 공급망 안정화에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대한다"며 "앞으로도 '한-네덜란드 반도체 대화'를 통해 실질적인 협력을 지속해나가기 위해 노력하겠다"고 밝혔다.

"Semiconductor cooperation between our two countries, which play key roles in the semiconductor supply chain, is expected to greatly contribute to stabilizing this supply chain and strengthen the competitiveness of the semiconductor sectors of both sides," Director-General Lee said. "We will continue striving for practical cooperation through the Korea-Netherlands semiconductor dialogue."
