9월 한 달간 전국 곳곳이 비엔날레와 아트페어, 미술관 전시가 펼쳐지는 미술 축제의 장으로 변신한다. Throughout September, various parts of the country will transform into a nationwide art festival, with biennales, art fairs and museum exhibitions taking place across Korea.

문화체육관광부(문체부)와 예술경영지원센터는 1일부터 오는 30일까지 전국에서 ‘2026 대한민국 미술축제’를 개최한다고 1일 밝혔다. 2024년 시작한 대한민국 미술축제는 매년 9월 국민 누구나 일상에서 미술을 즐길 수 있도록 다양한 프로그램을 선보이고 있다.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service on Sept. 1 announced that the 2026 Korea Art Festival will be held nationwide from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30. Launched in 2024, the Korea Art Festival has presented a variety of programs every September to enable everyone to enjoy art in their daily lives.

올해 축제에는 광주·경기도자·부산·제주비엔날레 4개와 키아프 서울·프리즈 서울 아트페어 2개, 전국 미술관 96곳이 참여한다.

This year’s festival features four biennales — the Gwangju, Gyeonggi Ceramics, Busan and Jeju biennales — two art fairs, Kiaf Seoul and Frieze Seoul, and 96 art museums nationwide.

문체부는 축제를 기념해 주요 전시 입장권을 정가보다 30~70% 할인해 판매했다. 지난달 26일까지 1만 3000여 명이 혜택을 받았다.

To commemorate the festival, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism offered tickets to major exhibitions at discounts of 30%-70% off their regular prices. As of Aug. 26, more than 13,000 people had benefited from the discounts.

국립현대미술관 서울·과천·덕수궁·청주관은 1일부터 6일까지 모든 전시를 무료로 개방한다.

The Seoul, Gwacheon, Deoksugung and Cheongju branches of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art are offering free admission to all exhibitions from Sept. 1 through Sept. 6.

경기·충청·전라·경상·제주 등 5개 권역에서는 전문 기획자·해설사와 함께 미술관과 비엔날레, 작가 작업실을 둘러보는 ‘미술여행’ 13개 프로그램과 워크숍 2개를 운영한다.

Across five regions — Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang and Jeju — 13 “art travel” programs and two workshops are being offered, featuring tours of art museums, biennales and artists’ studios accompanied by professional curators and guides.

인천·김포·김해국제공항에서는 한국 신진·중견 작가 16명의 미디어·설치 작품 29점을 선보이는 특별전이 열리고 있다.

A special exhibition featuring 29 media and installation works by 16 emerging and mid-career Korean artists is being held at Incheon, Gimpo and Gimhae international airports.

축제를 전후해 한국을 찾는 해외 미술계 전문가 15명은 지난달 30일부터 오는 6일까지 ‘2026 다이브 인투 코리안 아트’에 참여해 한국 신진 작가 9명의 작업실과 주요 미술기관, 광주·부산비엔날레를 찾는다.

Fifteen foreign art professionals visiting Korea around the festival period are participating in the 2026 “Dive into Korean Art” program from Aug. 30 through Sept. 6. They will visit the studios of nine emerging Korean artists, major art institutions, and the Gwangju and Busan biennales.
