국가유산청이 '제48차 유네스코 세계유산위원회' 기간 부산 벡스코 제1전시장에 '대한민국관'을 마련하고 다채로운 특별 전시와 행사를 선보인다.

The Korea Heritage Service has set up K-Heritage House ahead of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, featuring a range of exhibitions and cultural events at Exhibition Center 1 of the convention center BEXCO in Busan's Haeundae-gu District.

오는 20일부터 29일까지 운영되는 '대한민국관'에는 총 35개 기관이 참여한다. 전시 공간은 45개의 전시·체험 콘텐츠로 채워진다. 대한민국 세계유산 17건과 세계기록유산을 비롯해 국가무형유산 공연과 시연이 이어진다.

From July 20-29 with the participation of 35 organizations, the pavilion will be filled with 45 exhibitions and interactive content. Performing arts and demonstrations of National Intangible Cultural Heritage will feature 17 domestic sites designated World Heritage and Memory of the World.

먼저 정부 부처가 마련한 문화·미식 홍보관이 관람객을 맞이한다. A cultural and culinary promotional zone organized by government ministries will welcome visitors.

해양수산부는 세계유산 '한국의 갯벌'과 K-시푸드를, 농림축산식품부는 유네스코 인류무형유산인 '한국의 장 담그기 문화'와 K-푸드를 미디어 콘텐츠와 시식 체험으로 생생하게 알린다.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will introduce the World Heritage-listed gaetbol (getbol), or long-stretching tidal flats, and seafood. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will showcase the domestic culture of making jang (fermented sauce), which is on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, along with Hansik (traditional cuisine) through media content and tasting events.

불교계 유산과 기록문화도 한자리에서 만난다. 세계유산인 '산사, 한국의 산지승원'을 비롯해 세계기록유산 '팔만대장경'과 이를 봉안한 세계유산 '해인사 장경판전'을 사진과 영상 등으로 소개한다.

Korean Buddhist heritage and documentary culture will also be displayed. Exhibits will feature the World Heritage site "Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea," Memory of the World-listed Tripitaka Koreana and World Heritage-listed Janggyeong Panjeon (Tripitaka Koreana Depository) at Haeinsa Temple through photos and video presentations.

한국국학진흥원은 유교 문화와 기록유산을 직접 경험하는 체험형 홍보관을 운영한다.

The Korean Studies Institute will also run an interactive exhibition of the country's Confucian culture and documentary heritage.

이번 위원회 공식협력기관인 저스피스재단의 홍보관도 주목할 만하다. 재단의 명예이사장이자 위원회 홍보대사인 가수 지드래곤과 함께하는 사회공헌 활동과 세계유산기금 도시 캠페인 '헤리티지 인 피스' 등을 소개하고 방문객에게는 다과를 제공한다.

A promotional booth of the Juspeace Foundation, an official partner of this year's session, will feature the entity's social contribution activities featuring K-pop artist G-Dragon, the foundation's honorary chairman and committee ambassador, as well as "Heritage in Peace," a city campaign of the World Heritage Fund. Refreshments will also be provided.

대한민국관 내부 주무대인 'K-헤리티지 스테이지'에서는 위원회 기간 한국 전통의 소리와 선율이 울려 퍼진다. 열흘 동안 유네스코 인류무형유산인 처용무와 동래학춤 등 총 38건의 공연이 쉼 없이 펼쳐진다.

K-Heritage Stage, the main stage within K-Heritage House, will host 38 continuous performances over 10 days featuring traditional music and dance including the UNESCO-listed Cheoyongmu (Dance of Cheoyong) and Dongnae hakchum (crane dance).

궁궐의 정취를 재현한 '수문장 교대의식'과 '왕가의 산책'도 관람객의 발길을 사로잡을 예정이다.

Reenactments of the Palace Royal Guard Changing Ceremony and royal procession will recreate the atmosphere of a royal palace.

[유네스코 세계유산 잠정목록] ⑤ 시간이 멈추고 삶이 흐르는 곳, 순천 낙안읍성 - Naganeupseong Walled Town

제48차 유네스코 세계유산위원회 총회가 오는 7월 대한민국 부산에서 막을 올린다. 코리아넷은 이번 총회의 의미를 되새기며, 한국의 유네스코 세계유산 잠정목록 12곳 중 6곳을 소개한다.

Busan in July hosts the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. To mark this occasion, Korea.net introduces six of the country's 12 tentative candidates for World Heritage status.

전라남도 순천의 나지막한 평야지대에 시간이 멈춘 듯한 공간이 있다. 조선시대 고을의 풍경을 고스란히 간직한 채 오늘날까지 주민이 실제로 생활하고 있는 '순천 낙안읍성' 이다.

A place in the low-lying plains of Suncheon, Jeollanam-do Province, is where time seems to have stopped. Naganeupseong Walled Town has preserved the landscape of a village from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) while still housing residents to this day.

이곳의 역사는 1397년 조선 초기까지 거슬러 올라간다. 당시 왜구의 침입과 반란에 맞서기 위해 민관이 뜻을 모아 성벽을 쌓기 시작한 것이 그 시초다.

Its history dates back to 1397, early in the dynasty's reign, when the Joseon government and people joined forces to build a fortress to defend against rebellions and Japanese invaders.

보통 '읍성'이라 하면 행정 중심지와 주민 거주지를 둘러싼 성곽 자체만을 떠올리기 쉽다. 하지만 낙안읍성은 다르다. 성곽뿐만 아니라 22만 1000㎡의 성내에 자리 잡은 마을과 관아, 그곳을 터전 삼아 살아가는 사람들의 삶을 품은 총체적 공간이다.

Eupseong usually refers only to a fortress wall that surrounds the administrative center and residential areas. But Naganeupseong is different as a holistic space covering not just the fortification, but also the town and public offices on its area of 221,000 square m as residents' houses.

낙안읍성이 처음부터 지금의 웅장한 모습을 갖췄던 것은 아니다. 성곽은 초기에는 비바람에 취약하고 적이 기어오르기 쉬운 토성이었다.

The fortification of Naganeupseong initially did not have the majestic appearance that it has now. In its early days, the fortress was made of soil, and was vulnerable to the elements like wind and rain and easy for enemies to penetrate.

이를 보완해 견고한 석성으로 고쳐 쌓은 이가 1626년 낙안군수로 부임한 명장 임경업 장군. 높이 4m, 폭 3~4m, 길이 1410m에 달하는 성벽은 오늘날까지 당대의 축성 기술을 온전히 증명하고 있다.

That changed after renowned Gen. Im Gyeong-eop in 1626 took over as the magistrate of Nagan-gun County. He strengthened and rebuilt the fortress by replacing the soil with stones.

The fortress today measures 4 m in height, 3-4 m in width and 1,410 m in circumference, a testament to the effective fortification techniques of that era.

낙안읍성이 한국의 유네스코 세계유산 잠정목록에 등재된 이유는 단순히 잘 보전된 유적지여서가 아니다. 과거의 박제가 아닌 85세대, 200여 명의 주민이 살아가는 '살아있는 전통마을'이기 때문이다. 문화재와 생활 공간이 한데 어우러진 공존의 현장인 셈이다. 본래 농업을 중심으로 형성된 마을답게 성문 밖 넓은 농경지에서는 지금도 주민이 농사를 지으며 전통 농촌 마을의 명맥을 잇고 있다.

The town's tentative listing as UNESCO World Heritage stems not just from being a well-preserved historical site, but also its status as a "living traditional village" where about 200 people in 85 households live to this day. True to its origin as a village focused on agriculture, residents there still work the large fields outside of the walls, preserving their centuries-old legacy.

마을 내부로 들어서면 조선시대 사회상이 건축물로 극명하게 드러난다. 고을의 수령이 집무를 보던 동헌과 객사 등 관공서 건물들은 늠름한 기와집으로 지어졌다.

The town's architecture offers a glimpse at the social conditions of Joseon society. Government buildings like Dongheon, the office of the magistrate where he conducted official business, and a guesthouse for visiting government officials are made of giwa, or traditional roof tiles made of fired clay.

반면 주민이 대를 이어 살아온 민가는 하나같이 아늑한 초가집(짚이나 갈대 따위로 지붕을 인 집)이다. 신분과 용도에 따른 건축물 차이가 한 울타리 안에서 묘한 조화를 이룬다.

In contrast, the private homes of families who have lived there for generations are thatched-roof cottages, with roofs made of straw or reeds. The differences in architecture are based on social status and function to form a unique harmony within the fortress walls.

초가집 지붕에 얹은 볏짚이나 띠풀은 시간이 흐르면 비바람, 햇빛, 습기의 영향을 받아 약해진다. 해를 묵을수록 빗물을 막아내지 못하고, 벌레가 짚을 갉아먹거나 새들이 둥지를 틀기 위해 짚을 뽑아가면서 지붕이 점점 얇아지기도 한다.

The straw or reeds used to thatch the roofs weaken over time due to exposure to wind, rain, sunlight and moisture. Over time, keeping out rainwater gets harder and the roof gradually thins out as insects gnaw at the straw or birds pull it out to build nests.

이 때문에 낙안읍성은 매년 늦가을 새 볏짚과 띠풀로 지붕을 갈아입히는 '이엉 얹기'를 한다. 이 과정은 낙안읍성이 왜 '살아있는 마을'인지를 고스란히 보여주는 풍경이다.

As a result, the town annually replaces the thatch on the roof with fresh straw.

성곽의 가장 높은 능선 구간인 '빈길등'에 오르면 성곽 안의 둥글둥글한 초가마을이 한 눈에 내려다 보인다. '빈길등'이라는 이름은 1397년 최초로 성을 쌓을 때 공을 세운 김빈길 장군을 기리기 위해 붙여진 헌사다.

Going up Bingildeung, the highest ridge section of the fortress wall, offers the reward of the best panoramic view of the thatched-roof village inside the walls. The ridge's name honors Gen. Kim Bingil, who played a major role in the initial construction of the fortress in 1397.

이처럼 독창적인 경관 덕분에 낙안읍성은 대한민국을 대표하는 사극 촬영지로도 각광받고 있다. 세계적인 인기를 끌었던 유명 드라마 '대장금'(2003)과 '구르미 그린 달빛'(2016) 등 조선시대를 배경으로 한 많은 작품이 이곳에서 탄생했다.

Due to its traditional scenery, Naganeupseong is a popular filming spot for historical K-dramas set during the Joseon era like the hits "Jewel in the Palace" (2003) and "Love in the Moonlight" (2016).

오늘날 낙안읍성은 단순히 눈으로만 보는 관광지를 넘어, 방문객이 온몸으로 역사를 느낄 수 있는 다채로운 프로그램을 운영하고 있다. 관람객은 초가집에서 하룻밤을 보내는 숙박 체험을 비롯해 전통놀이 체험, 천연염색 체험 등 조선시대의 생활문화를 경험할 수 있다.

More than just a visually pleasing tourist attraction, Naganeupseong today offers interactive programs highlighting the country's history. Visitors can stay overnight at a thatched-roof house, play traditional games or try traditional dyeing.

이제 낙안읍성은 잠정목록을 넘어 유네스코 세계문화유산 등재를 향한 도약을 준비 중이다. 문화재와 인간의 삶이 결합한 공존의 공간, 순천 낙안읍성은 인류가 함께 기억하고 보존해야 할 위대한 문화자산이다.

대구치맥페스티벌 - Daegu Chimac (Chicken and Beer) Festival

올해 14회를 맞은 ‘대구치맥페스티벌’은 매년 수많은 국내외 관광객이 찾는 대한민국 대표 여름 축제다. 문화체육관광부(문체부)가 2020년부터 7년 연속 문화관광축제로 지정한 데 이어 올해는 ‘예비 글로벌축제’로 선정했다. 무더운 여름밤, 갓 튀긴 치킨과 차가운 맥주를 즐기며 더위를 식히는 것이 축제의 백미. 2·28자유광장 전망대에 해외 관광객 전용 공간 ‘글로벌 라운지’도 새롭게 문을 연다.

The Daegu Chimac (Chicken and Beer) Festival, now in its 14th year, is one of the nation's leading summer festivals, drawing huge crowds of hungry domestic and international visitors every year.

For seven straight years since 2020, the event was designated a "culture and tourism festival" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This year, it was upgraded to a "preliminary global festival."

The highlight is cooling off on hot summer nights with fresh Korean-style fried chicken and ice-cold beer. The new Global Lounge, exclusively for foreign tourists, will also open at the observation deck of 2.28 Freedom Plaza.

보령머드축제 - Boryeong Mud Festival

1998년 처음 개최된 ‘보령머드축제’는 국적과 나이를 넘어 모두가 함께 어울려 즐기는 글로벌 체험형 여름 축제다. 올해도 머드를 활용한 다양한 체험 프로그램 외에도 K-팝, 힙합 공연, 드론 라이트 쇼 등 한층 다양하고 화려해진 볼거리를 선사한다. 문체부가 2026년 ‘글로벌축제’로 선정하면서 국제적 위상도 한층 공고해질 전망이다.

Launched in 1998, the Boryeong Mud Festival is an international summer extravaganza for people of all ages and nationalities. This year's event will see the usual variety of mud-based interactive programs as well as an expanded lineup of attractions including K-pop and hip-hop performances and a drone light show.

This event has also gotten a big boost in its global standing thanks to its designation as a "global festival" this year.

인천펜타포트 락 페스티벌 - Incheon Pentaport Music Festival

국내외 최정상급 아티스트가 총출동하는 ‘인천펜타포트 락 페스티벌’이 강렬한 밴드 사운드와 뜨거운 공연 열기로 한여름 밤의 짜릿한 감동을 선사한다. 문체부가 2026년 글로벌 축제로 지정한 이 축제는 한국을 대표하는 음악 축제 중 하나로 꼽힌다. 올해는 총 66팀의 아티스트가 무대에 올라 장르를 넘나드는 음악 스펙트럼을 펼친다. 메인 공연뿐 아니라 신진 아티스트를 발굴하는 ‘펜타 슈퍼루키’, 포토존, F&B존, 나만의 록 키링 만들기 등 다양한 참여형 행사와 프로그램을 즐길 수 있다.

The Incheon Pentaport Music Festival will feature leading artists from Korea and abroad for electrifying performances and powerful sounds on summer nights. Among six global festivals designated this year, the event is dubbed of Korea's premier music galas, with 66 acts to showcase a diverse lineup spanning multiple genres.

In addition to the main performances, interactive programs and events will include Penta Super Rookie, a platform for emerging artists, photo zones, a food and beverage area, and a workshop where visitors can make their own music-themed keychains.

인류가 함께 보호하고 가꾸어야 할 보편적 가치를 지닌 유산을 논하는 문화외교의 올림픽, 유네스코 세계유산위원회가 7월 19일 대한민국 부산에서 막을 올린다. 이번 제48차 세계유산위원회는 한국이 1988년 세계유산협약에 가입한 이래 처음으로 의장국을 수임하여 개최하는 역사적인 무대다. 국제사회의 원조를 받던 나라에서 문화적 리더십을 발휘하는 의장국으로 서기까지, 이번 행사는 대한민국 국가유산 정책의 새로운 이정표이자 'K-헤리지티'의 위상을 전 세계에 각인할 최고의 기회가 될 것이다.

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee, aka the "Olympics of cultural diplomacy" for its focus on heritage of universal value that humanity must protect and nurture, on July 19 will kick off its 48th session in Busan, Korea's second-largest city. The event will mark Korea's first instance of serving as chair country since joining the World Heritage Convention in 1988.
Representing Korea's transformation from a receiver of global aid into a world cultural leader as the chair, the gathering will mark a milestone for Korea's national heritage policy and offer a prime opportunity to firmly establish the global stature of "K-heritage."

대한민국은 1988년 협약 가입 이후 짧은 역사 속에서도 총 17건의 문화 및 자연유산을 등재하며 전 세계에 그 탁월한 보편적 가치를 인정받았다. 1995년 종묘, 석굴암‧불국사, 해인사 장경판전으로 시작해 우리가 보유한 유산들은 저마다 깊은 역사적 층위를 품고 있다.

Since joining the convention in 1988, Korea has inscribed 17 cultural and natural heritage sites, a remarkable achievement in a relatively short period, thanks to their outstanding universal value. Beginning in 1995 with the designation of Jongmyo Shrine, Seokguram Grotto, Bulguksa Temple and the Janggyeong Panjeon (Tripitaka Koreana Depository) at Haeinsa Temple, each heritage site embodies profound historical meaning.

2007년 한국의 첫 자연유산으로 등재된 ‘제주 화산섬과 용암동굴’은 독보적인 지질학적 가치와 태고의 아름다움으로 세계를 매료시켰다. 지난해 등재된 ‘반구천의 암각화’는 선사시대의 삶과 사유를 생생하게 보여주는 인류 공동의 보물이다. 첫 자연유산에서부터 최근의 문화유산에 이르기까지, 한국의 세계유산은 자연과 인간, 과거와 현재가 어떻게 공존해왔는지를 증명하고 있다.

Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes, which were registered in 2007 as the country's first natural heritage sites, have captivated the world with their unparalleled geological significance and primordial beauty. The Petroglyphs along the Bangucheon Stream, which was inscribed last year, is a shared treasure of humanity that vividly illustrates prehistoric life and thought. From the earliest sites of natural wonder to the most recent ones of culture, Korea's World Heritage sites bear witness to the harmonious coexistence of nature and humanity as well as the past and present.

이번 위원회가 개최되는 부산은 그 자체로 중요한 상징성을 지닌다. 부산은 한국전쟁 당시 전국의 피란민을 품어 안았던 ‘피란수도’였다. 극한의 고통 속에서도 인류 존엄과 희망을 잃지 않았던 흔적들이 도시 곳곳에 남아있어, 유네스코 세계유산 잠정목록에 등재돼 있기도 하다. 전쟁의 폐허 위에서 국제사회의 원조를 바탕으로 눈부신 경제성장과 회복을 이룬 부산은, 이제 전 세계유산 전문가들이 모여 미래를 논의하는 국제 연대의 장으로 거듭난다. 고난을 극복하고 회복과 번영을 이룬 부산의 발자취는 유네스코가 지향하는 평화와 상생의 가치와 완벽히 맞닿아 있다.

Busan, the host city of this session, also holds major symbolic value of its own. As the nation's temporary capital during the Korean War, it took in refugees from across the Korean Peninsula. Traces of the resilience that maintained human dignity and hope amid extreme suffering remain throughout the city, earning it a place on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage. Achieving remarkable economic growth and recovery from the ruins of war with global support, the port city is evolving into a global solidarity venue where heritage experts from the world over gather to discuss their sector's future. Busan's overcoming of adversity to achieve recovery and prosperity aligns perfectly with the values of peace and coexistence championed by UNESCO.

한국에서 처음으로 개최되는 이번 세계유산위원회는 대한민국의 국제적 리더십을 한 단계 끌어올리는 결정적 계기가 될 전망이다. 첫 의장국 수임은 우리가 단순히 유산을 많이 보유한 국가를 넘어, 세계유산의 보존과 관리체계를 선도하는 주역으로 인정받았음을 뜻한다. 특히 이번 회의에서는 ‘한국의 갯벌 2단계’ 확대 등재 가능성이 높아 기대를 더한다. 확대 등재가 실현된다면 생물다양성의 보고인 우리 갯벌의 가치를 세계에 다시 한 번 증명하는 계기가 될 것이다.

As the first held in Korea, the session is likely to emerge as a turning point that further elevates the country's international leadership. Chairing the event for the first time signifies recognition not only as a nation with numerous heritage sites, but a key leader of systems for the conservation and management of World Heritage. Expectations are particularly high for the expanded inscription of Getbol, Korean Tidal Flats (Phase II). Should this happen, it will reaffirm to the world the value of Korea's tidal flats, a treasure trove of biodiversity.

나아가 대한민국은 세계유산이 직면한 복합위기를 타개하고 글로벌 유산 정책의 미래 비전을 제시할 ‘부산 선언’ 채택을 준비하고 있다. 오늘날 세계유산은 기후변화로 인한 훼손과 무력 분쟁으로 비롯된 파괴 등 전례 없는 위기에 직면했다.

Furthermore, the session will adopt the Busan Declaration, which seeks to overcome multifaceted crises facing World Heritage sites and present a future vision for global heritage policy. Today, such sites are under unprecedented threat ranging from damage caused by climate change to destruction from armed conflicts.

한국은 이를 극복하기 위해 유네스코가 정한 기존 5대 전략목표(신뢰성, 보존, 역량강화, 소통, 지역사회)에 ‘협력(Collaboration)’을 더해 국제 연대 강화를 강조할 예정이다. 아울러 세계유산 분야 최초로 디지털 전환 시대의 윤리와 책임 문제를 선언에 담아, 인공지능(AI) 시대에 유산의 진정성을 어떻게 지켜낼 것인가라는 실천적 화두를 던지고자 한다.

To tackle these challenges, Korea will emphasize stronger international solidarity by adding collaboration to UNESCO's five strategic objectives: credibility, conservation, capacity building, communication and community. And in a World Heritage first, the declaration will cover the issue of ethics and responsibility in the era of digital transformation through a practical dilemma: how to preserve the authenticity of heritage in the age of artificial intelligence.

부산 선언이 단순히 일회성 행사의 결과물에 그치지 않고, 향후 국제사회에서 지속적으로 회자되는 세계유산 분야의 주요한 이정표가 되길 바란다. 이를 위해 국가유산청은 다양한 후속사업 추진과 ‘부산 포럼’ 개최를 계획하고 있다. 부산 선언을 필두로 우리나라는 글로벌 문화 외교 무대에서 지속 가능하고 책임 있는 리더십을 보여 줄 것이다.

I hope that the Busan Declaration will not be the result of a one-off event but remain a major milestone in World Heritage, one that the world keeps discussing. To this end, the Korea Heritage Service will conduct follow-up initiatives and host the Busan Forum. With the declaration as a starting point, we will demonstrate sustainable and responsible leadership in cultural diplomacy.

이번 위원회의 백미는 벡스코에 조성되는 축구장 약 2배 규모의 ‘대한민국관(K-Heritage House)’이다. 이곳은 단순히 해외 참가자들만을 위한 공간이 아니다. 우리 국민 누구나 찾아와 대한민국의 세계유산, 무형유산, 기록유산을 아우르는 고품격 전통문화 콘텐츠를 체험하는 공간이다. 전통의 깊이와 첨단 기술이 융합된 대한민국관을 마중물 삼아 K-컬처와 뿌리가 되는 K-헤리티지를 홍보하고자 한다. 우리 유산의 우수성을 세계에 알리는 동시에 국민에게는 자긍심을 심어주는 축제의 장이 될 것이다.

The highlight of the session will be K-Heritage House, a Korean-centric pavilion under construction at BEXCO whose size is equal to two soccer fields. This space is not solely for international participants but where any Korean can visit and experience premium content in traditional culture spanning the nation's UNESCO World Heritage, Intangible Heritage and Memory of the World. By using this facility, where tradition is fused with cutting-edge technology, as a catalyst, the goal is to promote Korean heritage, the fundamental root of Korean culture. This will create a festive venue that showcases the excellence of such heritage to the world while instilling a sense of pride in the Korean people.

세계유산은 단순히 과거의 유물이 아니라 미래 세대에게 물려줄 인류 공동의 자산이다. 부산에서 울려 퍼질 K-헤리티지의 메시지는 전 세계에 깊은 감동을 전하고, 문화강국으로서 대한민국의 위상을 확고히 다지는 신호탄이 될 것이다. 제48차 유네스코 세계유산위원회의 성공적인 개최로 대한민국이 세계유산협약의 미래를 밝히는 진정한 글로벌 리더로 우뚝 서기를 기대한다.

World Heritage sites are more than just the remains of the past; they are humanity's shared assets to be passed on to future generations. The message of Korean heritage resonating from Busan will deeply move the world and solidify Korea's status as a cultural power. I hope that the hosting of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will see Korea emerge as a true global leader and illuminate the future of the World Heritage Convention.

한국을 대표하는 글로벌축제를 알리기 위해 정부가 팔을 걷어붙였다. The Korean government has launched a new initiative to promote the nation's leading international festivals.

문화체육관광부(문체부)와 한국관광공사가 다음 달 5일까지 서울역과 명동에서 ‘글로벌 K-페스티벌 반짝매장’을 운영한다. 한국을 대표하는 ‘글로벌축제’ 6개와 ‘예비 글로벌축제’ 4개를 국내외 관광객에게 소개하고 방문을 이끌기 위해 마련한 행사다.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) are operating the "Global K-Festival Pop-up" through July 5 at Seoul Station and Myeong-dong. The event aims to introduce six officially designated global festivals and four prospective global festivals to both domestic and international visitors and encourage attendance.

선정된 글로벌축제는 ‘수원화성문화제’, ‘인천펜타포트뮤직페스티벌’, ‘화천산천어축제’, ‘보령머드축제’, ‘안동국제탈춤페스티벌’, ‘진주남강유등축제’다. 예비 글로벌축제에는 ‘대구치맥페스티벌’, ‘부산국제록페스티벌’, ‘순창장류축제’, ‘정남진장흥물축제’가 이름을 올렸다.

The six global festivals are the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, Incheon Pentaport Music Festival, Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, Boryeong Mud Festival, Andong International Mask Dance Festival, and Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival. The four prospective global festivals are the Daegu Chimac (Chicken and Beer) Festival, Busan International Rock Festival, Sunchang Fermented Food Festival, and Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival.

반짝매장은 ‘필 더 바이브, 라이브 더 페스티벌(Feel the Vibe, Live the Festival)’을 슬로건으로 내걸고 영화관처럼 꾸몄다. 외국인 방문객의 편의를 위해 외국어 전담 안내요원도 상시 배치했다.

The pop-up space is designed like a movie theater under the slogan "Feel the Vibe, Live the Festival." Multilingual staff members are stationed on-site to assist foreign visitors.

방문객은 영화 상영 시간표처럼 구성된 전시를 보며 ‘글로벌축제’ 개최 장소와 주요 프로그램 등을 확인할 수 있다. 이름과 국적 등을 입력하고 선호 영화 분야를 선택하면 그에 맞는 ‘글로벌축제’를 추천해 주고 결과에 따라 맞춤형 영화표를 발급받는다.

Visitors can browse displays arranged like a movie screening schedule to learn about festival locations and key programs. After entering information such as their name and nationality and selecting their favorite movie genres, they receive personalized festival recommendations and a customized movie-style ticket based on the results.

외국인 방문객의 참여를 높이기 위해 ‘글로벌축제’를 배경으로 ‘인생네컷’ 형식의 사진 촬영 체험도 제공한다. 모든 체험을 끝낸 방문객을 추첨해 ‘글로벌축제’ 기념품과 할인권을 증정한다.

To encourage participation from international visitors, the event also offers a "Life 4 Cuts" photo booth experience featuring backgrounds from Korea's global festivals. Visitors who complete all activities will be entered into a lottery to win festival souvenirs and discount coupons.

'남북연결' 도라산역 오가는 관광열차 10일 운영 재개 - Tourist train service going to station near NK border resumed

서울역과 도라산역을 잇는 정기 관광열차가 2019년 중단 이후 6년 6개월 만에 다시 운행된다. A tourist train connecting Seoul Station and Dorasan Station will resume service for the first time in six years and six months since its suspension in 2019.

통일부는 9일 서울역과 파주 도라산역을 잇는 'DMZ(비무장지대) 평화이음 열차' 운행을 10일 재개한다고 밝혔다.

The Ministry of Unification on April 9 announced that the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) Peace Link Train connecting Seoul Station and Dorasan Station in Paju will resume operation on April 10.

이번 열차의 명칭은 남북 연결의 출발점이라는 상징성을 담아 결정했다. 승객들은 임진강역을 지나 민간인 출입 통제선(민통선) 내부에 있는 도라산역에서 내려 도라전망대, 통일촌 등을 직접 방문할 수 있다.

The train’s name reflects its symbolic meaning as a starting point for inter-Korean connection.

Passengers will pass Imjingang Station and get off at Dorasan Station within the Civilian Control Line, where they can visit Dora Observatory and Unification Village.

도라산역은 지난 2000년 6·15 남북 정상회담과 후속 장관급 회담을 계기로 도출된 남북 간 경의선 복원·철도 연결 합의에 따라 만들어진 철도역이다. 남한 최북단 역이자 북쪽으로 갈 수 있는 첫 번째 관문이다.

Dorasan Station was established following agreements from the June 15, 2000 inter-Korean summit and subsequent ministerial talks to restore the Gyeongui Line and reconnect railways.

It is the northernmost station in South Korea and the first gateway to the North.

오는 5월까지는 둘째와 넷째 금요일에 각 1회, 회당 탑승객 120명 규모로 운영한다. 6월부터는 월 4회, 매주 금요일에 운행할 예정이다.

Through May, the train will run once on the second and fourth Fridays each month with a capacity of 120 passengers per trip.

From June, it will operate four times a month, every Friday.

통일부는 "중단된 도라산역 열차 운영 재개는 남북 간 대결 종식과 평화 공존을 향한 정부 의지의 표명" 이라면서 "DMZ 평화관광 활성화로 한반도 평화와 통일의 공감대를 넓혀 나가겠다"고 말했다.

The Ministry of Unification said, "The resumption of train service to Dorasan Station reflects the government's commitment to ending inter-Korean confrontation and pursuing peaceful coexistence."

"It will also expand public consensus on peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula by promoting DMZ peace tourism."

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on April 2 said the city won the title of Best Leisure Destination in Asia at the 14th Leisure Lifestyle Awards hosted by Global Traveler.

이 상은 전 세계 비즈니스 여행객과 관광 업계 투표로 선정됐다. The award was determined through votes by business travelers and tourism industry professionals worldwide.

글로벌 트래블러는 "쇼핑, 미식, 엔터테인먼트 등은 물론 한국 문화와 결합한 다채로운 체험 콘텐츠가 글로벌 관광객의 마음을 사로잡았다"고 평가해 서울의 전통과 트렌드의 조화, 다각적인 관광 매력을 수상의 요인으로 꼽았다.

Global Traveler praised Seoul for its wide range of experiential content combining Korean culture with shopping, cuisine and entertainment, saying these elements captivated global tourists. It cited the harmony of tradition and modern trends, along with the city's diverse tourism appeal, as key reasons for the award.

서울이 세계 금융경쟁력 평가에서 8위를 기록하며 4년 연속 10위권을 유지했다. Seoul ranks eighth worldwide in financial competitiveness, staying in the top 10 for the fourth consecutive year.

서울시는 26일 영국 컨설팅그룹 지옌(Z/Yen)이 발표한 '국제금융센터지수(GFCI) 39차 보고서'에서 서울이 전 세계 137개 도시 가운데 종합 8위를 차지했다고 밝혔다.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on March 26 said the capital placed eighth among 137 cities in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) report released by British consulting group Z/Yen.

서울은 지난 2009년 53위에서 2021년 16위, 2022년 12위로 꾸준히 상승한 데 이어 최근 4년 연속 10위권을 유지하며 안정적인 성장세를 이어가고 있다.

Seoul has steadily risen from 53rd in 2009 to 16th in 2021 and 12th in 2022, maintaining a stable upward trend by staying in the top 10 for the past four years.

이번 평가에서 서울은 도쿄(10위), 파리(19위)보다 높은 순위를 기록했다. 상위권에는 뉴욕(1위), 런던(2위), 홍콩(3위), 싱가포르(4위), 샌프란시스코(5위)가 이름을 올렸다.

In the latest survey, Seoul ranked higher than Tokyo (10th) and Paris (19th).

The top five cities were New York (1st), London (2nd), Hong Kong (3rd), Singapore (4th) and San Francisco (5th).

서울은 5개 평가 항목 전반에서 고르게 경쟁력을 인정받았다. 항목별로는 인적자원 8위, 기업환경 6위, 금융산업 발전 8위, 기반시설 10위, 도시평판 9위를 기록했다. 특히 기반시설 부문은 직전 평가 대비 9계단 상승하며 두드러진 개선을 보였다.

Seoul was recognized for its competitiveness across all five categories:

8th in human capital
6th in business environment
8th in financial sector development
10th in infrastructure
9th in reputation

Notably, infrastructure rose by nine spots from the previous evaluation.

GFCI는 지옌과 중국종합개발연구원(CDI)이 공동으로 발표하는 지수로, 세계 주요 도시의 금융 경쟁력을 평가한다. 인적자원, 기업환경, 금융산업 발전, 기반시설, 도시평판 등 5개 항목과 금융 종사자 온라인 설문조사를 종합해 산출된다. 매년 3월과 9월 두 차례 발표된다.

The GFCI, jointly released by Z/Yen and the China Development Institute, evaluates the financial competitiveness of major global cities.

It is based on five categories — human capital, business environment, financial sector development, infrastructure and reputation — along with an online survey of financial professionals.

The index is published twice a year, in March and September.

국립공원 외국인 탐방객 200만 시대···한라산·가을 산행 '최고 인기' - National parks in 2025 attract 2.05M foreign visitors: data

지난해 국립공원을 방문한 외국인이 205만 명을 돌파했다. The country's national parks last year attracted 2.05 million foreign visitors.

기후에너지환경부 산하 국립공원공단은 25일 방한 관광객 113만 명과 국내 거주 외국인 92만 명을 포함한 작년 한 해 통계를 발표했다.

The Korea National Park Service under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment on March 25 released statistics showing that 1.13 million foreign tourists and 920,000 foreign residents visited national parks last year.

외국인 관광객이 가장 많이 찾은 국립공원은 단연 한라산국립공원(27만 명)이었다. 다도해해상국립공원 (14만 명), 태안해안국립공원(13만 명), 한려해상국립공원(13만 명) 등 해상 국립공원들이 그 뒤를 이으며 높은 인기를 증명했다.

Hallasan National Park attracted the most visitors with 270,000.

It was followed by Dadohaehaesang National Park with 140,000 and Taeanhaean and Hallyeohaesang national parks with 130,000 each.

탐방 외국인을 국적별로 보면 중국인이 25만 명으로 가장 많았다. 이어 대만 13만 명, 필리핀 9만 명, 인도네시아 8만 명, 미국 6만 명, 일본 5만 명 순이었다.

By nationality, Chinese visitors were the most at 250,000, followed by Taiwanese (130,000), Filipinos (90,000), Indonesians (80,000), Americans (60,000) and Japanese (50,000).

계절별로는 단풍이 물들고 기후가 온화한 가을철에 가장 집중적으로 산을 올랐다. 봄과 여름은 다음 순위였다.

Autumn was the most popular season thanks to fall foliage and mild weather, followed by spring and summer.

국립공원공단은 가파르게 늘어나는 외국인 수요에 발맞춰 탐방 서비스를 확대할 계획이다.

The Korea National Park Service will expand visitor services to meet the rapidly growing number of foreign tourists.

우선 등산화와 스틱을 포함한 '안정 배낭 대여 서비스'를 도입한다. 인공지능(AI) 기반 다국어 안내 시스템도 도입해 정보 접근성을 높인다. 나아가 외국인 전용 레인저 탐방 프로그램을 운영해 더 안전하고 편리한 탐방 환경을 구축할 방침이다.

A safety backpack rental service including hiking boots and trekking poles will be introduced.

An AI-based multilingual guidance system will improve access to information.

A ranger-led tour program exclusively for foreign visitors will also be launched to create a safer and more convenient hiking environment.

"조선의 봄을 예약하세요"··· ‘2026 궁중문화축전’ 외국인 예매 시작 - Ticketing starts for int'l visitors to K-Royal Culture Festival

오는 4월 25일 막을 올리는 '2026 봄 궁중문화축전'의 외국인 전용 프로그램 예매가 시작됐다. Ticket sales have begun for programs exclusively for foreign visitors to the Spring K-Royal Culture Festival, which opens on April 25.

국가유산진흥원은 한국 여행 플랫폼 크리에이트립(www.creatrip.com)에서
지난 16일부터 티켓 판매에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

The Korea Heritage Service announced the launch of ticket reservations on March 16 on the domestic tourism platform Creatrip (www.creatrip.com).

올해는 외국인 전용 프로그램을 공연, 야간 프로그램, 미식 체험 등 6개로 확대했다. 지난해 축전에 137만 명에 달하는 관람객이 몰리는 등 급증한 글로벌 수요를 반영해서다.

The number of programs exclusively for foreign visitors was expanded to six including performing arts, evening events and culinary experiences, reflecting the surge in global demand with last year's attendance reaching 1.37 million.

먼저 축전의 시작을 알리는 개막제가 오는 4월 24일 경복궁에서 열린다. 궁중정재무, 미디어퍼사드, 한복 패션쇼, 국악 EDM 공연 등 다양한 장르가 결합한 대형 공연을 선보인다. 외국인 관람객 300명에 한해 사전 예약 시 무료로 즐길 수 있다.

The festival's opening ceremony on April 24 at Gyeongbokgung Palace will feature a large-scale performance including royal court dance, media facade, Hanbok fashion show, and a fusion of traditional music and EDM.

The first 300 foreign visitors who reserve can attend this event free.

창덕궁에서는 신규 프로그램 '효명세자와 달의 춤'이 다음 달 28일부터 30일까지 펼쳐진다. 영어로 진행하는 참여형 프로그램으로, 조선 왕실이 지향했던 예술 세계를 체험할 수 있다. 인기 프로그램 '아침 궁을 깨우다' 역시 다음 달 28일부터 5월 3일까지 외국인 전용 회차를 별도로 마련했다. 국악인 100인이 출연하는 궁중음악 공연은 오는 5월 1일부터 3일까지 영문 해설과 함께 무대에 오른다.

The debut of "The Dance of Crown Prince Hyomyeong and the Moon" from April 28-30 at Changdeokgung Palace will be conducted in English as an interactive program to experience the artistic world of the Joseon royal court.

The popular "Awakening the Morning Palace" from April 28 to May 3 will include sessions exclusively for foreign visitors.

A royal court music performance featuring 100 traditional musicians from May 1-3 will be accompanied by English commentary.

덕수궁에선 대한제국 황실의 연희 문화를 미식으로 체험하는 프로그램 '황제의 식탁'을 5월 1일부터 3일까지 하루 두 차례 운영한다. 회당 20명까지 사전 예약으로 참여할 수 있다.

At Deoksugung Palace, "The Emperor's Dining Table" from May 1-3 will be held twice daily, offering an experience of imperial court culture through cuisine.

Attendance is limited to 20 people per session and requires reservations.

종묘에서는 유네스코 인류무형문화유산인 종묘제례악의 가치를 소개하는 '종묘제례악 야간공연'이 다음 달 28일부터 30일까지 관객과 만난다. 외국인 관람객은 사전 예약을 하면 무료로 관람할 수 있다.

An evening performance of Jongmyo Jeryeak, the royal ancestral ritual music designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, will be held from April 28-30.

Foreign visitors can attend for free with prior reservation.
