2026 국제축구연맹(FIFA) 북중미 월드컵에 나설 한국 축구 국가대표팀 최종 명단이 확정됐다. The final roster for the men's national soccer team competing in the FIFA World Cup in North America has been announced.

홍명보 축구대표팀 감독은 16일 서울 종로구 KT 광화문빌딩 온마당에서 기자회견을 열고 월드컵 무대에서 나설 26명의 태극전사 명단과 함께 대회 목표 등을 밝혔다.

Head coach Hong Myung-bo on May 16 held a news conference at Onmadang of KT Gwanghwamun West Building in Seoul's Jongno-gu District to release the 26-man list, along with the team's goals for the event.

대표팀 명단에는 주장 손흥민을 필두로 이강인, 김민재, 황인범, 이재성 등 대표팀 핵심 선수들이 이름을 올렸다.

Members include stars such as captain Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, Kim Min-jae, Hwang In-beom and Lee Jae-sung.

홍 감독은 이번 대회 1차 목표로 "좋은 위치로 32강에 오르는 것"이라고 밝혔다.

Hong said the Taegeuk Warriors' main goal for this tournament is to get to the round of 32 in a "favorable position."

명단을 확정한 대표팀은 18일 홍 감독을 비롯한 1차 본진이 사전 캠프지인 미국 유타주 솔트레이크시티로 출국해 월드컵을 향한 본격적인 행보를 시작한다.

The first contingent of the team including the coach left on May 18 for Salt Lake City, Utah, for the pre-tournament training camp.

대표팀은 현지에서 두 차례 평가전을 치르며 실전 감각을 끌어올린다. 오는 31일 트리니다드토바고, 6월 4일엔 엘살바도르와 브리검영대 BYU 사우스 필드에서 맞붙는다.

Korea will play two friendlies -- Trinidad and Tobago on May 31 and El Salvador on June 4 -- at South Field of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

사상 첫 48개국 체제로 확대된 이번 대회에서 한국은 조별리그 A조에 편성됐다. 태극전사들은 6월 12일 멕시코 과달라하라 아크론 스타디움에서 체코와 조별리그 첫 경기를 치른다. 이어 19일 같은 경기장에서 개최국인 멕시코와 격돌한다. 조별리그 최종전 상대인 남아프리카공화국과의 경기는 25일 멕시코 몬테레이 BBVA스타디움에서 열린다.

This tournament will feature an expanded field of 48 teams for the first time, with Korea placed in Group A. The Taegeuk Warriors on June 12 will open their group action against the Czech Republic at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico, then face cohost Mexico on June 19 at the same venue and South Africa on June 25 at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey.

“당신이 경험한 한국 얘기해 주세요”···토크토크 코리아 2024 개최 - 2024 edition of world's biggest Hallyu content contest begins

문화체육관광부(문체부)가 전 세계인을 대상으로 하는 세계 최대 한류 콘텐츠 공모전 ‘토크토크 코리아(Talk Talk Korea) 2024’를 28일부터 오는 8월 31일까지 개최한다. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from June 28 through Aug. 31 will host Talk Talk Korea, the world's largest Hallyu (Korean Wave) content contest for foreign applicants.

올해 공모전 주제는 ‘한국 본연의 아름다움을 경험하다(Experience the essence of Korea)’ 다. 한국문화에 대한 참여자의 경험을 끌어내고 이를 담은 작품을 통해 한국의 이야기를 듣고 간접 경험해 볼 수 있도록 하기 위해 이같이 주제를 정했다.

"Experience the Essence of Korea," the theme of this year's competition, was chosen to elicit participants to recount their experiences with Korean culture and hear about their stories and experiences indirectly through their works.

특히 ‘짧은 영상(숏폼)’이 전 세계적인 영상 소비 흐름으로 자리매김함에 따라 밈&트렌드 분야(밈, 챌린지 등 숏폼 영상)를 신설했다. 이에 프로모션 비디오(한국 음악·춤·악기연주 등 특기를 활용해 표현한 영상), 아트&크래프트(그림, 웹툰, 조형, 캘리그래피 등 작품), 모션그래픽(2D 및 3D 애니메이션, 모션그래픽 기술 영상), 사진(한국 소재 사진)을 더해 총 5개 분야에서 공모한다.

The category Short Form, referring to short-form videos of memes and challenges, was added this year to reflect the global trend of consuming such clips. The other four of the five overall categories are Promotional Videos (Korean music, dance and instrumental performances); Arts and Crafts (paintings, webtoons, sculptures and calligraphy); Motion Graphics (2- and 3D animation and motion graphics videos); and Photos (of Korea).

문체부는 예비 심사와 1·2차 심사, 최종 심사 등 총 네 차례의 심사 평가를 거쳐 분야별 1~5등까지 수상작 총 80점을 선정한다. 결과는 오는 9월 30일 공모전 누리집(www.talktalkkorea.or.kr)에 발표할 예정이다.

The ministry will hold preliminary, first, second and final evaluations to select 80 winning works ranked from first to fifth in each category. The results will be released on Sept. 30 through the contest's official website (www.talktalkkorea.or.kr).

분야별 1등 수상자에게는 한국문화를 직접 체험할 수 있는 8박 9일간의 방한 기회를 제공하고 분야별 1~3등 수상자에게는 특별 제작한 상패를 수여한다. ‘프로모션 비디오’와 ‘밈&트렌드’ 분야의 1등 수상자에게는 각각 2500 달러, 1500 달러 상당의 특별 상금이 추가로 주어진다.

The first-place winners of each category will get to visit Korea for nine days to experience Korean culture firsthand, and the top three in each section will get plaques. The winner of Promotional Videos will receive additional prize money of USD 2,500 and the one of Memes and Trends USD 1,500.

올해 11번째를 맞이한 ‘토크토크 코리아’는 지난 2014년 시작 이래 지속 성장해 왔다. 그동안 공모전을 통해 세계인의 감성으로 표현된 다양한 한국의 모습은 한국문화의 가치를 재발견하는 기회이자 새로운 한류 창출의 기반이 됐다.

Talk Talk Korea has steadily grown since its launch in 2014. Over its first 10 years, the contest sought to use Korea's diverse aspects as expressed by the sentiment of people around the world as an opportunity to rediscover the value of Korean culture and set the basis for the creation of new Hallyu.

유인촌 문체부 장관은 “이번 공모전을 통해 참여자들이 경험한 다양한 한국 이야기가 전해지고 그 이야기 속 감동과 설렘을 전 세계인이 함께 누릴 수 있길 바란다”고 말했다.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In Chon said, "Through this contest, we hope that participants tell diverse stories of their Korean experiences and for the emotion and excitement of such tales to be shared by people around the world."

Korean Idioms and Proverbs related to 눈 (eyes)

1. 눈 깜짝할 사이 the twinkle of an eye
=> 매우 짧은 순간 A very brief moment.
Ex: 아이는 배가 많이 고팠던지 눈 깜짝할 사이에 밥 한 공기를 뚝딱 비웠다.

2. 눈 밖에 나다 to be left out of someone's eyes
=> 믿음을 잃고 미움을 받게 되다 To lose someone's trust and be hated by him/her.
Ex: 김 대리는 잦은 지각으로 윗사람들의 눈 밖에 나 버렸다.

3. 눈 위에 혹 a lump on one's eye
=> 몹시 미워서 보기 싫은 사람. A person one dislikes very much and does not want to see.
Ex: 저 얄미운 동료는 제멋대로여서 꼭 눈 위에 혹 같다.

4. 눈 하나 깜짝 안 하다 not budge an eye at all
=> 태도나 눈치 등이 아무렇지도 않은 듯이 보통 때와 같이 행동하거나 대하다. To behave or deal with others as usual in exactly the same attitude or air.
Ex: 지수가 눈 하나 깜짝 안 하고 거짓말을 해서 그게 거짓말인지도 잘 몰랐다.

5. 눈(에) 띄다 to stand out in sight

=> 두드러지게 드러나다. To visually stand out.
Ex: 휴가 기간이라 그런지 도로 위의 차들이 눈에 띄게 줄었다.

6. 눈(에) 어리다 to flicker in one's eyes
=> 어떤 모습이 잊히지 않고 머릿속에 떠오르거나 생각이 나다. For an image to linger and keep coming to one's mind.
Ex: 어머니는 떠나보낸 자식들의 모습이 자꾸 눈에 어렸다.

7. 눈(을) 뒤집다 to overturn one's eyes
=> 어떤 일에 매우 열중하여 제정신을 잃다. To be engrossed in something and lose one's senses.
Ex: 아저씨는 노름판에 눈 뒤집고 달려들다가 전 재산을 홀라당 날려 버렸다

8. 눈(을) 똑바로 뜨다 to open one's eyes straight
=> 정신을 차리고 주의를 기울이다. To come back to earth and pay attention.
Ex: 운전사는 사고가 나지 않도록 눈을 똑바로 뜨고 밤길 운전을 했다.

9. 눈(을) 밝히다 to light up one's eyes

=> 무엇을 찾으려고 매우 집중하다. To intently focus on looking for something.
Ex: 아버지는 잃어버린 아들을 찾기 위해 눈을 밝히며 온 동네를 뛰어다녔다

10. 눈(을) 붙이다 to close one' eyes
=> 잠을 자다. To sleep.
Ex: 한동안 잠을 설치던 어머니는 새벽녘이 되어서야 겨우 눈을 붙이셨다.

11. 눈(이) 높다
1. To have high eyes
=> 정도 이상의 수준 높고 좋은 것만 찾다.
To seek something sophisticated and good above a certain level.
Ex: 언니는 남자를 보는 눈이 높아서 웬만한 남자는 성에 차지 않는다.

2. To have high eyes
=> 사물을 보고 분별하는 수준이 높다.
To have very keen insight and good judgement.
Ex: 가: 이 가방이 좋아 보이네요. 좀 보여 주시겠어요?
나: 손님, 이 좋은 제품을 단번에 알아보시다니 정말 눈이 높으시네요.

12. 눈에 나다 to be left out of someone's eyes
=> 믿음을 잃고 미움을 받게 되다.

=> 성난 눈으로 보다. To give an angry look.

14. 눈에 밟히다 to be stepped on in one's eyes
=> 잊히지 않고 자꾸 떠오르고 생각이 나다. For something to linger and keep coming to one's mind.
Ex: 어머니는 집에 혼자 두고 온 어린 딸의 모습이 눈에 밟혀서 발걸음을 옮길 수가 없었다.

15. 눈에 익다 to be familiar with one's eyes
=> 여러 번 보아서 익숙하다.
For something to be familiar to someone who has seen it before several times.
Ex: 가: 저 사람은 누구지? 눈에 익은 얼굴인데 이름을 잘 모르겠네.
나: 저 사람은 우리 옆집에 사는 사람이야.

16. 눈에 차다 to be satisfied to one's eyes
=> 만족하게 마음에 들다.
To satisfy one and be to one's liking.

1. To draw someone's eyes
=> 호기심을 일으켜 보게 하다.

For something to be at the center of attention.

=> 사물을 보고 이해하는 능력이 생기다.
To gain insight and a discerning eye to understand things.

1. 이(가) 갈리다
One's teeth are ground
>> 매우 분하고 화가 나서 독한 마음이 생기다: To have a grudge from strong resentment and fury.
Ex: 믿었던 그 사람한테 사기를 당한 생각을 하면 정말 이가 갈린다.

2. 이(가) 떨리다
One's teeth shudder
>> 참을 수 없이 몹시 분하거나 괴롭고 싫다: To feel unbearably resentful or distressed.
Ex: 친한 친구에게 배신당한 생각만 하면 이가 떨린다.

3. 이(가) 빠지다
One's teeth fall out
