중국과 베트남 등 아시아 6개국 단체관광객의 비자발급 수수료 면제 조치가 올해 말까지 연장된다. K-컬처 확산세에 발맞춰 외국인 관광객 유치에 한층 탄력이 붙을 전망이다.

The waiver of visa fees for group tourists from six Asian countries will be extended until year's end, something that is expected to attract more travelers amid the global boom in Hallyu (Korean Wave).

법무부는 1일 중국, 베트남, 필리핀, 인도네시아, 인도, 캄보디아 등 6개국 단체관광객의 비자발급 수수료(15달러, 약 2만 2500원) 면제 조치를 올해 12월 31일까지 연장한다고 밝혔다. 면제 조치는 당초 올해 6월 종료될 예정이었다.

The Ministry of Justice on July 1 announced its extension of the exemption through Dec. 31 for such visitors from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Cambodia. The waiver of the fee (USD 15 or KRW 22,500) was originally set to expire last month.

이번 결정은 ‘제11차 확대 국가관광전략회의’ 후속 조치의 하나다. 외국인 단체관광 활성화를 지속적으로 지원하고자 법무부가 연장안을 마련했다.

This move is a follow-up measure from the last National Tourism Strategy Meeting. The ministry decided on the extension to keep attracting group tours from abroad.

실제 비자 수수료 면제 혜택은 방한 관광객 유치에 마중물 역할을 했다. 지난해 단체비자로 입국한 외국인은 79만여 명으로 전년(57만여 명) 대비 39% 급증했다. 중국과 동남아 국가를 중심으로 방한 단체관광객이 계속해서 늘어난 결과다.

The waiver is considered to have helped attract more foreign tourists to Korea. Last year, the number of visitors from abroad on group tours reached 790,000, a 39% jump from 570,000 in 2024 and driven by a steady rise in such travelers particularly from China and Southeast Asia.

법무부는 수수료 면제가 대외관계 개선과 K-컬처 확산 등과 맞물려 외국인 단체관광객 수요 회복에 기여한 것으로 분석했다.

The ministry said the waiver helped raise demand for group tourists, coupled with improved diplomatic relations and the spread of Hallyu.

한편 불법체류로 이어지는 이탈률은 0.07%로 전년(0.19%)과 비교해 안정적으로 관리되고 있는 것으로 확인됐다.

The percentage of such tourists fleeing to stay in the country illegally was 0.07%, a significant drop from 0.19% in 2024.

법무부는 출입국관리 질서를 유지하면서 지역 관광과 민생경제에 활력을 불어넣을 수 있도록 관광비자 제도를 운영·보완해 나갈 방침이다.

The ministry said it will run and improve the visa system to stimulate tourism in the provinces and the people's livelihoods while enforcing immigration control.
