최휘영 문화체육관광부 장관이 올해 11월 중국 선전에서 열리는 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의를 계기로 2027~2028년을 '한중 관광의 해'로 공동 지정하자고 제안했다.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed jointly designating 2027-28 as "Korea-China Tourism Year" to mark the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum slated for November in the southeastern Chinese city of Shenzhen.

최 장관은 27일 중국 마카오 특별행정구에서 열린 '제13차 APEC 관광장관회의'에 참석해 쑨예리 중국 문화여유부 장관과 면담에서 이같이 제안했다고 문화체육관광부가 밝혔다.

The ministry on June 27 said Minister Chae Hwi-young made this proposal in talks with his Chinese counterpart Sun Yeli on the sidelines of the APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Macao.

최 장관은 면담에서 양국 간 인적 교류의 중요성을 강조했다. Minister Chae emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral exchanges of people.

이에 쑨 장관은 "한중 양국은 서로에게 매우 중요한 관광 시장인 만큼, 국민들이 더 자주 오갈 수 있도록 하는 것이 핵심"이라면서 향후 구체적인 협의를 이어가자고 화답했다.

Minister Sun said in response, "Korea and China are highly important tourism markets for each other, so the key is to allow our people to travel back and forth more frequently," urging continued detailed discussions on the proposal.

이어 쑨 장관은 "올해 중국에서 열리는 APEC 정상회의를 준비하는 데 지난해 성공적으로 정상회의를 개최한 한국의 경험이 큰 도움이 될 것"이라며 긴밀한 협력을 요청했다.

"Korea's successful hosting of last year's APEC forum will be of great help in preparing for this year's event in China," the Chinese official said, emphasizing close cooperation.

최 장관은 게속해 일본, 인도네시아, 베트남과도 연쇄 양자 회담을 하고 관광상품 공동 마케팅, 비자 제도 완화, 출입국 편의 제고 등 관광 교류 활성화를 위한 실질적인 협력 방안을 논의했다.

Minister Chae also held a series of bilateral meetings with officials from Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam on practical cooperation to stimulate tourism exchanges including joint marketing of travel products, easing of visa regulations and improvement of immigration convenience.

한편 최 장관은 APEC 관광장관회의에서 관광산업 유망 기술기업을 발굴하는 혁신 정책과 지방자치단체·기업·학계가 협력하는 인공지능(AI) 기반 지역관광 선도 프로젝트를 소개했다.

At the ministerial meeting, he explained Korea's innovation policies to find promising technology companies in tourism, as well as pioneering regional tourism project based on artificial intelligence among local governments, businesses and academic institutions.
