단종을 다룬 영화 '왕과 사는 남자'가 '천만 영화'에 오른 지 사흘 만에 1100만 관객을 돌파했다. "The King's Warden," a historical period epic on the life of the sixth king of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), has surpassed 11 million in ticket sales three days after reaching the 10 million mark.
개봉 31일째인 6일 역대 국내 개봉작 가운데 34번째 천만 영화에 이름을 올린 데 이어 주말에도 관객을 끌어모으며 흥행세를 이어갔다.
Reaching 10 million in sales on March 6 on the 31st day after its release, the blockbuster is the country's 34th movie to break 10 million viewers and continued to draw moviegoers over the weekend.
9일 영화관입장권 통합전산망에 따르면 '왕과 사는 남자'는 지난 주말(6~8일) 172만 5000여 명(매출액 점유율 80.3%)의 관객을 극장으로 불러 모았다.
The Korean Box Office Information System of the Korean Film Council on March 9 said "The King's Warden" drew about 1,725,000 viewers from March 6-8, accounting for 80.3% of box office revenue.
누적 관객 수는 1150만 3000여 명으로 '범죄도시4'(2024년·1150만 2000명), '해운대'(2009년·1145만 명), '어벤져스: 인피니티 워'(2018년·1121만 명)의 기록을 넘어섰다.
The cumulative number of viewers reached 11,503,000, breaking the records set by ‘"The Roundup: Punishment" (2024) with 11,502,000, "Tidal Wave" (2009) 11,450,000 and "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) 11,210,000.
장항준 감독의 ‘왕과 사는 남자’는 강원도 영월로 유배된 단종 이홍위(박지훈)가 마을 촌장 엄흥도(유해진)를 비롯한 마을 사람들과 교감하며 인생의 마지막 시기를 보내는 이야기를 그린 작품이다.
Directed by Jang Hang-jun, "The King's Warden" depicts the life of King Danjong (played by actor Park Jihoon) after his exile to Yeongwol-gun County, Gangwon-do Province. There, he spends the final years of his life interacting with the villagers including its chief Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin).
