In Korea, children call their parents โ€œ์•„๋น  (dad)โ€ and โ€œ์—„๋งˆ (mom)โ€ or โ€œ์•„๋ฒ„์ง€ (father)โ€ and โ€œ์–ด๋จธ๋‹ˆ (mother).โ€ When talking to older siblings, Koreans say โ€œํ˜• (older brother),โ€ โ€œ๋ˆ„๋‚˜ (older sister),โ€ โ€œ์˜ค๋น  (older brother),โ€ or โ€œ์–ธ๋‹ˆ (older sister)โ€ instead of calling them by their name. However, when talking to younger siblings, they use their names such as โ€œ์ง€์—ฐ (Jiyeon)โ€ or โ€œ๋ฏผ์ˆ˜ (Minsu).โ€
