Seoul is hosting for the first time in the country the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy. 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 보건·경제고위급회의가 한국에서 처음 열린다.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare on Sept. 15 said the talks run from Sept. 15-16 at the hotel Shilla Seoul in the capital's Jung-gu District.

보건복지부가 15~16일 서울 중구 신라호텔에서 제15차 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 보건·경제고위급회의를 개최한다고 이날 밝혔다.

The estimated 480 attendees include ministers and vice ministers from APEC's 21 member countries, representatives from international bodies such as the World Health Organization's Western Pacific Office, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and Asian Development Bank as well as businesspeople.

APEC 21개 회원국 경제 장·차관급 인사와 세계보건기구 서태평양사무처(WHO WPRO), 경제협력개발기구(OECD), 아시아개발은행(ADB) 등 국제기구 관계자와 기업인 등 480여 명이 참석한다.

Under the theme "Innovate, Connect, Prosper: Building a Healthy, Smart and Aging-Responsive Society," the meeting covers the three topics of digital health, healthy aging and mindful youth.

이번 회의에서는 '혁신(Innovate), 연결(Connect), 번영(Prosper): 건강하고 스마트한 고령화 대응 사회 실현'을 주제로 디지털 헬스, 건강한 노화, 청년 정신건강 등 3개 의제를 논의한다.

"I am pleased that through the integration of health and the economy, we can explore ways to advance cooperation for a healthy and sustainable future for the Asia-Pacific region," Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun Kyeong said. "Korea will continue to lead regional cooperation and global solidarity."

정은경 보건복지부 장관은 “보건과 경제의 연계를 통해 아시아태평양지역의 건강하고 지속 가능한 미래를 위한 협력 방안을 함께 모색할 수 있어 기쁘다”면서 “앞으로도 역내 보건 협력과 글로벌 연대를 선도해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
