지난 4일(현지 시간) 프랑스 파리 레쟁발리드에서 열린 2024년 파리 올림픽에서 김우진(청주시청)이 양궁 남자 개인전 결승에서 미국의 브레이디 엘리슨을 치열한 슛오프 끝에 6-5로 물리치고 금메달을 목에 걸었다. 한국 선수단의 열 번째 금메달이다.
Kim Woojin on Aug. 4 beat Brady Ellison of the U.S. in the men's individual final, 6-5, in a shoot-off at Les Invalides in Paris for the gold, the 10th for Korea in this Olympics.
이로써 김우진은 남자 개인전, 단체전과 혼성전을 포함해 금메달 ‘3관왕’에 달성했다. 남자 궁사로는 올림픽 최초다. 통산 5번째 올림픽 금메달을 수확한 김우진은 동·하계를 통틀어 역대 최다 금메달을 따낸 한국 선수로 등극했다. 한국 여자 양궁 간판 임시현도 이번 대회에서 단체전∙혼성 단체전∙개인전을 모두 휩쓸며 3관왕에 올랐다.
In an Olympic first for a Korean male competitor, Kim won three golds from the individual, team and mixed events. Bringing his career total to five, he became the country's leader in Olympic golds in either the Winter or Summer Games. Not to be outdone was Lim Sihyeon, who also won three golds in the women's individual and team and mixed events.
앞서 치뤄진 양궁 남녀 단체전과 혼성 단체전, 여자 개인전에서 모두 금메달을 따낸 한국팀은 역사상 처음으로 올림픽 양궁 5종목 석권이라는 대업을 달성했다. 이번 대회에서 한국 여자 양궁 대표팀은 단체전에서 금메달을 획득하며 1988년 서울 올림픽부터 시작된 10연패 신화를 달성했다.
By winning the men and women's team, mixed and women's individual events earlier, Korea for the first time in its history swept all five golds in Olympic archery. The Paris Games was also the 10th straight Olympics for women's archery to win the team gold, a streak that began at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
양궁 여자 개인전에서는 남수현이 은메달을, 남자 개인전에서 이우석이 동메달을 각각 따냈다. Nam Suhyeon won the silver in the women's individual and Lee Wooseok the bronze in the men's individual.
임애지는 4일(현지 시간) 프랑스 파리의 노스 파리 아레나에서 열린 2024 파리 올림픽 복싱 여자 54㎏급 준결승전에서 튀르키예의 하티세 아크바시에게 2-3으로 판정패해 동메달을 차지했다. 한국 복싱 역사상 첫 올림픽 동메달이자 12년 만의 올림픽 메달이다.
In women's boxing, Im Aeji settled for the bronze after losing, 3-2, to Hatice Akbas of Turkiye (Turkey) in the 54-kg semifinals at North Paris Arena. Im still made history with the first Olympic bronze in the sport for a Korean woman and the first in Olympic boxing -- male or female -- in 12 years.
3일(현지 시간) 프랑스 샤토루 슈팅센터에서 열린 2024 파리 올림픽 25미터 권총 여자 개인 결승에선 양지인이 슛오프까지 가는 접전 끝에 프랑스의 카미유 제드르제브스키를 꺾고 금메달을 거머쥐었다. 올림픽 첫 출전에서 거둔 쾌거다.
In women's shooting, Yang Jiin, competing in her first Olympics, on Aug. 3 won the gold by beating Camille Jedrzejewski of France, 4-1, in a shoot-off in the individual 25 m pistol final at Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
같은 날 한국 펜싱 여자 사브르 대표팀(윤지수, 전하영, 최세빈, 전은혜)은 프랑스 파리 그랑팔레에서 열린 여자 사브르 단체전 결승에서 우크라이나에 42-45로 아쉽게 패하면서 시상대 두번째 자리에 올랐다. 지난 도쿄 올림픽에서의 동메달을 넘어선 역대 최고 성적이다.
In fencing, Yoon Jisu, Jeon Hayoung, Choi Sebin and Jeon Eunhye lost, 45-42, to Ukraine in the final of the women's team sabre at Grand Palais in Paris. The team's silver topped its bronze in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as the team's best finish.
프랑스 파리 샹드마르스 경기장에서 열린 대회 유도 혼성단체전 동메달 결정전에서 한국은 독일을 4-3으로 꺾고 동메달을 목에 걸었다. 도쿄 올림픽에서 처음 도입된 혼성 단체전은 남자 3명(73㎏급·90㎏급·90㎏ 이상급)과 여자 3명(57㎏급·70㎏급·70㎏ 이상급)이 참여하는 경기로 4승에 선착하는 팀이 승리한다.
In judo, the national team beat Germany, 4-3, in the bronze match for the mixed team event at Champ-de-Mars Arena. Debuting at the 2020 Tokyo Games, the event pits three male (73, 90 and over 90 kg) and three female (57, 70 and over 70 kg) competitors on each team, with the first to win four matches earning victory.
배드민턴 여자 단식 세계 랭킹 1위 안세영도 금메달로 향하는 길을 활짝 열었다. 안세영은 5일(한국 시간) 프랑스 파리 포르트드라샤펠 아레나에서 중국의 허빙자오와 여자 단식 결승전을 치른다.
In badminton, world No. 1 An Se Young on Aug. 5 seeks gold against He Bingjiao of China in the women's singles final at Porte de La Chapelle Arena.
한국은 5일(한국 시간) 오전 기준 금메달 10개, 은메달 7개, 동메달 7개로 종합순위 6위에 올랐다. As of the morning of Aug. 5 Korean Standard Time, the national team had 10 golds, seven silvers and seven bronzes for sixth in the overall rankings.
