한국 대표 명절인 설을 맞아 연휴 기간 4대궁, 종묘, 조선왕릉, 세종대왕유적 등이 무료 개방된다.
This year's Seollal (Lunar New Year) holiday period will see free admission offered to the four main palaces of Seoul, Jongmyo Shrine, the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, and the royal tomb of King Sejong the Great.
문화재청은 오는 9~12일 궁궐과 왕릉을 무료 개방하고 경복궁 세화 나눔 행사 등 국가유산 활용 행사를 운영한다고 1일 밝혔다.
The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) on Feb. 1 said the seven landmarks from Feb. 9-12 will have free admission and events featuring national heritage. One of them is a lottery for a sehwa (traditional painting) of a royal guard at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
이 기간 관람객들은 경복궁, 창경궁, 창덕궁, 덕수궁을 자유롭게 관람할 수 있다. 단, 창덕궁 후원은 무료 개방 대상에서 제외된다.
Unlike at the palaces Gyeongbokgung, Changgyeonggung, Changdeokgung, and Deoksugung over the four-day period, Changdeokgung Garden will charge admission.
평소 예약제로 운영되는 종묘도 나흘 동안 자유롭게 관람할 수 있다. Visiting Jongmyo typically requires a reservation but not during this holiday.
같은 기간 경복궁 광화문 일대에서는 궁궐의 문을 지키는 수문장과 수문군들의 근무 교대를 재현하는 '수문장 교대의식'이 오전 10시와 오후 2시 진행된다.
The changing of the guard ceremony over the four days will be held twice daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Gwanghwamun area of Gyeongbokgung, showing the shifts of the gatekeeper and guards of the palace gates.
9~10일에는 경복궁 흥례문 광장 수문장청에서 세화를 나눠주는 '2024년 수문장 세화 나눔' 행사를 1일 2회(오전 10시 20분, 오후 2시 20분) 개최한다. 세화는 질병 등의 불행을 막고 행운이 깃들기를 바라는 마음으로 그린 그림이다. 회당 선착순으로 배포된다.
From Sept. 9-10, the lottery for the painting will take place twice a day at 10:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. at the gatekeeper's office of Heungnyemun Square at Gyeongbokgung. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, a sehwa was traditionally used to ward off bad luck such as illness and attract good luck.
올해 세화는 풍자화(캐리커처) 작가이자 드라마 '우리들의 블루스'에 출연해 배우로도 활동 중인 정은혜 작가와 협업한 '청룡을 배경으로 서있는 수문장' 그림이다.
This year's painting is dubbed "Gatekeeper Standing Against Backdrop of Blue Dragon" and was drawn by caricaturist and actor Jung Eun-hye, who appeared in the TV drama "Our Blues." 2024 is the Year of the Blue Dragon under the Asian zodiac.
문화재청은 "새해 첫 명절인 설을 맞아 국민 모두가 우리 국가유산을 부담없이 즐기고 향유하며 따뜻하고 희망찬 연휴를 보내기를 기대한다"고 밝혔다.
CHA said in a news release, "On the occasion of Seollal, the first holiday of the new year, we hope that all the people can freely enjoy and appreciate our national heritage and have a warm and hopeful holiday."
