배우 수지의 한복 화보가 미국 뉴욕 타임스퀘어 전광판에 등장한다. Photos of actor-singer Suzy clad in Hanbok (traditional costumes) will appear this weekend on the giant billboard of Times Square in New York.

문화체육관광부(문체부)는 오는 24일(현지 시간) 오전 6시부터 25일 오전 2시까지 타임스퀘어 브로드웨이 전광판에서 수지의 한복 화보 영상이 송출된다고 15일 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Dec. 15 said a video of her wearing the traditional outfit will be shown there on Christmas Eve from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day.

화보에서 수지가 착용한 한복은 문체부가 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원(공진원)과 함께 진행한 ‘2023년 한복 분야 한류연계 협업콘텐츠 기획·개발’ 사업을 통해 제작된 한복들이다. 문체부는 국내외 한복 홍보와 한류 확장을 위해 2020년부터 해당 사업을 추진하고 있다.

The outfits in her pictorial were designed and created under a project of developing and designing Hanbok in connection with Hallyu (Korean Wave) content that the ministry and Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) jointly conducted this year. Since 2020, the ministry has pursued the project to promote Hanbok at home and abroad and expand Hallyu's reach.

올해 공모를 통해 선정된 송화바이정, 오우르, 차이킴 등 국내 한복 중소기업 6개사는 수지를 모델로 한복의 전통적 구성과 요소를 유지하면서도 현대적인 흐름과 감각을 결합시켜 디자인한 한복을 선보였다.

The six small and medium domestic companies to make the featured Hanbok including Songhwa by Jeong, OUWR, and Tchai Kim were chosen through a contest. They created designs for the celebrity by combining modern flows and sensibilities while preserving Hanbok's traditional composition and elements.

올해 개발한 한복은 오는 26일부터 한복물결 누리집(www.hanbokwave.com)에서 확인할 수 있다. 내년 2월 열리는 뉴트로페스티벌과 10월 예정된 한복문화주간 등 한복 관련 전시와 패션쇼 행사 등에서도 공개될 예정이다.

These designs will be shown from Dec. 26 on the website of the project "Hanbok Wave" (www.hanbokwave.com). They will also be displayed at Hanbok exhibitions and fashion shows such as the Newtro Festival slated for February and Hanbok Culture Week in October next year.

수지의 한복 화보는 오는 20일 유명 패션잡지 1월호를 통해 먼저 공개된다. 이어 26일부터는 공진원 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해서도 화보 영상을 감상할 수 있다.
A pictorial video of Suzy's Hanbok outfits will be featured on Dec. 20 in the January edition of a well-known fashion magazine. From Dec. 26, the video can be viewed on the KCDF's official YouTube channel.

정향미 문체부 문화정책관은 “한복 고유의 미에 한류 연예인의 매력을 더한 한복을 국내외에 소개함으로써 한복을 널리 알리고 한복의 아름다움을 다시 한번 확인할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 한복산업 발전과 한복 문화 확산을 위해 중소업체들의 다채로운 상품개발을 지원하는 등 정책적 노력을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

"By introducing Hanbok's unique beauty with the added appeal of a Hallyu celebrity, we hope to spread the word about the traditional costume and reaffirm its beauty both in and out of the country," said Jung Hyang-mi, director-general of the ministry's Regional Culture Policy Bureau. "To develop the Hanbok industry and spread Hanbok culture, we will do everything at the policy level like supporting small and medium businesses to develop a variety of products."
