If you had not told me, I would not have been able to cook tomorrow. I should get the water for tomorrow ahead of time.

V+ 을/ㄹ 뻔하다
As it is attached to an action verb's stem, it is used when the situation did not occur actually, but, it is used when the situation indicates a very high possibility to occur. It is used for a negative situation frequently.

'-ㄹ 뻔하다' is used if it ends with a vowel of the action verb's stem or 'ㄹ'. Other than that, '-을 뻔하다' is used when it ends with a consonant.

길이 미끄러워서 넘어질 뻔했어요.
I almost fell on the ground because the road was slippery.

스마트폰을 보면서 걷다가 자동차에 부딪힐 뻔했는데 다행히 차가 멈춰서 다치지 않았어요.
While I was walking and on my cell phone, I almost got crushed by a car. However, fortunately, I did not get hurt since the car stopped.

1점만 모자랐으면 시험에 떨어질 뻔했어.
I almost failed the test if I missed 1 point.
